Traveling is always important, but especially now. Turkey is a wonderful place to learn about another culture and about Islam. In light of recent events, learning what Islam really is has never been more important. Turkey provides the unique perspective of a religiously Islamic country and a secular state, so their government is not skewed by the religion. Being here, we realize that the religion really doesn't condone acts of terrorism - those acts are a perversion of Islam. The Turks have a real sense of justice and responsibility, and we've received so many words of encouragement! Telling people that I'm from New York City usually elicits a response, but I am seeing a new one now. Sympathy and pity. I'm not used to it, but it is very welcome. Nobody should hesitate to visit Turkey now, and, in fact, people should make even more of an effort to come.

The Aegean Coast of Turkey contains fine archaeological sites, beautiful beaches, great scenery, and a host of towns that are excellent destinations. The Aegean Coast is an area of Turkey you should research, as it is a rich travel destination.
