Uludağ, located at 36 km. south of Bursa is an important and favorite winter sports center of the country. Uludağ, with its richness of flora and fauna has been declared to be a National Park in 1961 is not only a center of winter sports but also provides activities as trekking, camping and daily picnic activities at summer seasons. Uludağ has been known as Olympos Misios in ancient periods and found its place in mythology as the place where the gods watched the Trojan war.
Uludag Ski Resort has been separated into two regions as 1st and 2nd Development Regions. The investments of the 1st Development Region has been completed. At the 2nd Development Region that has been announced as a tourism center in 1986, 11 touristic facility parcel with 3300 beds capacity had been arranged and these 11 parcels with 3300 bed capacity has been assigned to investors.
Uludağ Ski Resort has the suitable geographic conditions to apply Alpine and Northern Discipline and "Ski Touring" and "Heli Skiing". Besides skiing, snow board, big foot, ice skating, snow bike activities can be found.
Arrival Uludağ National park could be reached both by highway and by cable railway. The Ski resort is 40 minutes away from Bursa by highway and 60 minutes from airport. Uludag highway is 22 km away from city center to the entrance of the National park and the distance between the national park to the Hotels area is 12 km. If you plan to reach Uludağ by private vehicle, Çekirge road is the most available road. One must keep chains, wedge and pulling hawser at winter seasons. There are places to hire or buy chains among the road side.
Especially at winter seasons, one can find minibuses to reach Uludağ mountain from the city center (Tophane district) at each hour of the day. To reach the ski resort is approximately 1.5 hours.
One can reach to Uludağ by cable highway. There are totally four lines of cable highway, two are between Bursa - Kadi Plateau (1235 m) and the remaining two are between Kadi Plateau - Sari Alan (1621 m.). Each line has a cabin that can carry 30 person. But to carry skiing equipment with the cable highway is prohibited. The cable highway departs from the district of Teleferik (Cable highway) of Bursa in every 20 minutes. The cable highway first reaches to Kadi Plateau. There, the cabin is changed with the cabin to Sari Alan is used. The journey is about 25 minutes. From this location, one must use minibuses to reach the Hotels area. The distance between Sari Alan and the hotels area is 7 km. In summer seasons, one can reach from Sari Alan to Çoban Kaya (1750 m) with chairlift.
Geography Uludağ is the highest mountain of the Western Anatolia Region with its peak reaching to 2543 meters (Kara Tepe). The environment is covered with forests. Uludağ region is on the partial temperate climate zone. The dominant wind direction is southwest - south
The altitudes of the skiing region are between 1750-2543 meters. The most suitable period for skiing is between 20 December - 20 March. The region has the property of having the snow drop about three meters at the normal winter conditions, at the beginning of the of the season, the snow has the quality of powdery snow, at the end of the season the snow has the quality of slushy snow.
Accommodation and other services There are over 3000 bed capacities at the total 27 accommodation facilities 15 of which belong to the private sector and 12 of which belong to the public sector. There are shopping halls, food and beverage and entertainment centers and health center. The ski materials, rental offices and skiing instructors can be found.
The Mechanical Facilities and running tracks There is a capacity of 11.000 person / hour at the Hotels region with 8 chairlift and 7 T bars. There are 13 different running tracks.
